Memorial Day Parade Program

The town of Shrewsbury will host a Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 30.

SHREWSBURY- The town of Shrewsbury will host a Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 30 starting at 9:30 a.m.

The parade will begin at the Richard D. Carney Municipal Office Building, 100 Maple Ave. Participants are encouraged to arrive at 9 a.m.

At the War Memorial in the town center John Travers, Ray Stone Post, Master of Ceremonies, will give a welcome speech to attendees, followed by the parade's invocation given by Pastor Andrew Heisen. Maggie Clark, Shrewsbury High, Speech & Debate Team will then read the Gettysburg Address as the parade marches on. Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito will then make her remarks.

The 2016 Memorial Address will be given by Senior Chief Petty Officer Christopher Knight (Ret.)

The parade continues on to the veteran's lot in Mountain View Cemetery

Reading of General Logan’s Orders by Benjamin George of Shrewsbury High's debate team
Wreath Ceremony and Salute by Charles Murphy Post # 10278, VFW

Benediction by Msgr. Michael Rose
Reading of the Names of Town Veterans’ Squares by members of Shrewsbury Boy Scouts
Another performance by Shrewsbury High School Band

Ray Stone Post #238, A.L., will continue to the World War I Veterans’ Lot for memorial services. 

Victor R. Quaranta Post #397, A.L., and Charles J. Murphy Post #10278, V.F.W.,
will continue to their memorial lot for services and disband.


Taps will be played at the Cemetery to conclude the day's events.
