Overturned Kayak In Shrewsbury Reminds Residents To Secure Boats

The boat likely floated away from a port, there were no victims, fire officials said.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Firefighters in Shrewsbury were called to Lake Quinsigamond after residents saw an overturned kayak floating in the water. Fire officials said there were no passengers in the kayak and it likely just floated away from its post, but it served as a gentle reminder on securing boats and boating vehicles.

Shrewsbury fire officials are still looking for the owner of the kayak.

The department shared a message about the incident on Facebook, reading in part: "We also ask that if you live on the water to properly secure your watercraft, these overturned boat calls require many resources to mitigate and deplete both police and fire assets."
