Pair From Miami Arrested After Shrewsbury Home Break-In

One of the suspects was found wearing a wig at a gas station following the daytime break-in, police said.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Two Florida residents were arrested Thursday in Shrewsbury after a daytime home break-in a neighborhood near the town center.

Shrewsbury police went to a home along Grafton Street around 1:30 p.m. Thursday after a resident called 911 to report a suspicious car parked along the street. When a Shrewsbury officer and K9 arrived, they were met by an out-of-breath man walking out from behind a home, police said.

The K9 tracked the man's footsteps back to a home along Linwood Drive that had been broken into. Police also searched the man's car, and found burglary tools inside like a ski mask and a radio. They also found jewelry and wallets, and methamphetamine.

During a wider search of the area, a state trooper found a woman at the Maple Avenue Shell station wearing a wig. Police discovered that she was carrying several stolen items.

The 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with breaking and entering during the daytime to commit a felony, malicious destruction of property, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy and possession of a class B substance. The 26-year-old woman was charged with breaking and entering during the daytime to commit a felony, malicious destruction of property, receiving stolen property worth over $1,200, conspiracy and using a false identity.
