Person Identified in Fatal Weekend Crash in Shrewsbury

The two-vehicle crash involving a UPS truck sent one person to the hospital; he was later pronounced dead.

SHREWSBURY, MA—A Boston man has died after a crash in Shrewsbury on Route 20 over the weekend.

On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 12:53 a.m., Shrewsbury police responded to 307 Hartford Turnpike (Route 20), in front of Flynn’s Truck Stop for a motor vehicle crash.

Two vehicles - a 2007 Infiniti G35 and a tandem tractor trailer owned by UPS had collided.

The lone occupant of the Infiniti, Robert A. Santana, 27, Boston, was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The operator of the tractor trailer, Lancelot O. Bradshaw, 40, Plainfield, New Jersey, was not injured.

Police concluded that the Infiniti was headed west on Route 20 when it struck the trailer, which was also traveling west. Santana collided with the left side of one of the tractor trailers, then losing control and spinning across the eastbound lane of Route 20, and then off the road. He then collided with a parked trailer.

Route 20 was closed for approximately four hours to investigate the crash. No charges have been filed as of yet as the investigation continues.
