SELCO Gives Customers a Break in December

Thanks to lower than expected power costs for 2012, Shrewsbury Electric & Cable Operations (SELCO) finds itself in an unusually strong financial position on the electric side of the business. SELCO is passing the savings on to SELCO electric customers through a one-time 50 percent electric discount for all rate classes on electric bills issued in December 2012.

The discount will appear as a line item on all electric bills issued from December 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012. For the average 750 kWh per month customer, this discount represents a savings of $45.88! Rates will return to normal for bills issued in January.

This one-time discount is just another example of the many benefits of having a
municipally owned utility here in Shrewsbury.
