SHREWSBURY, MA β€” Election season is underway in Shrewsbury β€” even if the election is more than three months away.

Late last week, Shrewsbury began allowing residents to file to run in the May 2 election. Those papers are due back by March 14.

The election has already drawn one new candidate: Finance Committee Vice Chair Carlos Garcia kicked off his 2023 campaign on Monday for Select Board. Garcia got his local start in politics after winning a Town Meeting seat in 2017.
