Shrewsbury Fire Chief Takes Charge Of Statewide Association

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury Fire Chief James Vuona was sworn in this week as the new president of a statewide association that advocates for training and best practices for Massachusetts fire departments.
Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito swore Vuona in as president of the Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts on Wednesday.
"In his role as president, he will work with chiefs, firefighters, and legislators from across the state to advance the fire service in the commonwealth. Shrewsbury is fortunate to have such a dedicated and engaged fire chief," the department said in a social media post.

Vuona has been Shrewsbury's fire chief since 2010. He joined the department as a firefighter in the early 1990s. He takes over the FCAM presidency from Mike Winn, chief of the COMM fire department that oversees the Centerville, Osterville and Marstons Mills area of Barnstable.
