Shrewsbury Pair Burglarized Dollar Store Employer: Police

The Shrewsbury duo worked at the Worcester dollar store together — and worked together to stage an overnight burglary, police said.

SHREWSBURY, MA — A nighttime burglary this week at a Worcester dollar store was the work of a man and a woman from Shrewsbury, according to police.

Early Thursday morning, Worcester police responded to the Dollar Tree along Southbridge Street to investigate a break-in that occurred while the store was closed for the night.

After watching surveillance video, police identified a 45-year-old Shrewsbury man as one of the burglars. He had recently been fired from his job at the store, police said. Police identified a second person involved in the burglary as a 49-year-old Shrewsbury woman who also worked at the store.

The pair stole money from the Dollar Tree, according to police. Both were charged with breaking and entering at night, larceny in a building, larceny from a person, vandalism, breaking into a safe and larceny over $1,200, according to Worcester police
