Shrewsbury Police Plan 'National Night Out' Event

During the August event, residents can learn about town departments and enjoy food trucks.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury will take part in National Night Out 2022, a nationwide event aimed at improving community relations with police.

Shrewsbury's event will take place at the town common in August. The event will allow resdients to meet and talk to local police, plus representatives from other town departments. There will also be food trucks available.

National Night Out events typically happen on the first Tuesday in August each summer. The event dates to the mid 1980s, when neighborhood watch members would sit outside with their porch lights on. About 16,000 communities across the U.S. participate in the annual event, according to the National Night Out organization.
