Shrewsbury Police Want Your Old Prescription Drugs
The department is joining the National Drug Take Back initiative.
SHREWSBURY, MA — Cleaning out your cabinets? Make sure you put all of your old prescription medicines to the side because the Shrewsbury police want them. The department is participating in the national Drug Take Back initiative and setting up a time to collect old and unused prescriptions from people in the community.
The purpose behind the initiative is to prevent the abuse and theft of old, unused and expired prescription drugs. Prescription drugs are highly susceptible to misuse by family and friends and can be dangerous to the environment if they're not thrown away properly.
Drugs can be dropped off at the Shrewsbury Senior Center, 98 Maple Avenue on Saturday Oct. 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The drop-off does not include needles and sharp objects. Residents can dispose of Sharps at the Health Department located on the first floor of the Town Hall if they are in a puncture-proof and tightly sealed container.
When there are no scheduled Medication Take Back events, residents may place them in a Medication Drop-off Kiosk Box at the CVS Pharmacy on Boston Turnpike Road.
