Shrewsbury Resident to Star in The Great Gatsby

Shrewsbury resident, Alycia Noeth, talks about Moonstruck Theater Company's production of The Great Gatsby.

MOONSTRUCK THEATER COMPANY, in association with Amazing Things Art Center of Framingham, is pleased to present the regional premiere of the American classic THE GREAT GATSBY, opening Friday, October 24, and running for seven performances through Sunday, November 2.

THE GREAT GATSBY, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age fable of doomed love and careless wealth, will be presented live on stage as you have never seen it before. This exciting new version, reinterpreted for the stage by Simon Levy, brings the American classic to life through the music of the era. Song and dance from the 1920s will accompany Levy’s exhilarating script to create an immersive theatrical experience.

THE GREAT GATSBY features 15 performers from the Boston and Metro West regions, including Shrewsbury native Alycia Noeth, a member of the West Egg Quartet, a jazz group that helps tell the story through music and dance.

“I remember reading the book in high school but not fully appreciating it as a piece. When I learned that there was a play version, and that this would be the regional premiere, I knew I had to be involved.” Noeth says, “The incorporation of time-period appropriate music into key plot points adds an added layer of meaning to the work, producing a piece that is even more complex and even more haunting than the play on its own.”

Noeth has been involved with the theatre her entire life, “One of the most memorable roles I’ve had in recent memory would probably have to be as one of the Urchins in Little Shop of Horrors - how often does a person get to sing back-up for a giant, man-eating, alien plant?”

Noeth does pharmaceutical research for Agilux Labs in Worcester, MA. Outside of work and theater, she enjoys love ballroom dancing, riding her horses, and occasionally going for a run.
