Shrewsbury Resident Wins $25K A Year For Life In Mass Lottery

SHREWSBURY, MA — Venkataramanan Balakrishnan of Shrewsbury is the winner of a $25,000 a year for life prize.

He won playing the multi-state Lucky for Life game after the first five numbers on his Season Ticket matched those selected in the Nov. 28 drawing, according to Mass Lottery.

Balakrishnan said his Season Ticket numbers were random numbers that he had been playing for five years.

He claimed his prize Friday at Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester. He chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $390,000 before taxes.

He told Mass Lottery that he plans to use his winnings to help pay some of his mortgage, to fund his son’s education, and to support some good causes.

Lucky for Life drawings are conducted seven nights a week.
