Shrewsbury Schools Employee Facing Child Porn Charges

SHREWSBURY, MA — A 19-year-old man who works in the Shrewsbury Public School system is facing child pornography charges.
Aiden York-Wallach, who works as an AVA technician paraeducator at Sherwood Middle School, was arrested on Thursday following an investigation by Lunenburg police and other agencies.
He was charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of dissemination of visual material of a child in a state of nudity or sexual conduct. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Fitchburg District Court.

York-Wallach also worked at the Extended School Care programs at Sherwood, Beal School, and Spring Street Schools, in the school district's Summer Enrichment and Special Education Extended Year programs, and in its Unified athletics and social club at the middle schools, according to Shrewsbury Public Schools.
The school district said that the charges are not connected to any Shrewsbury student and that York-Wallach was immediately placed on leave and has no access to SPS buildings and systems.

SPS also said it conducted all criminal background checks prior to his hiring, and that there was no criminal record.
"The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. Our school district will continue to be in communication with the Lunenburg and Shrewsbury Police and the District Attorney’s office regarding these criminal charges, and we will provide any additional information and support as necessary," the school district shared in a statement.
The Shrewsbury Police Department confirmed that York-Wallach was employed by the Shrewsbury school district and said it is working closely with the district.
"We understand that news of this nature is concerning for families and the community. Please know that the safety and well-being of students is our highest priority, and we take these matters extremely seriously," Shrewsbury police wrote in a statement.
The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be shared if, and when, it becomes appropriate to do so, police said.
