Open Door Chats: Urban Forestry (thesomervilletimes.com) — Somerville is ramping up its urban forestry work, aiming to boost tree canopy from 14.6 to 16 percent while tackling stark neighborhood "tree equity" gaps, especially in East Somerville. The city's small "Tree Amigos" team plants hundreds of trees yearly and urges residents to water, weed around street trees, and even adopt a tree to help them thrive.
   

2. NU Kitchen in Somerville Has Closed (blogspot.com) — NU Kitchen has shut down its Somerville café on Washington Street near Union Square, ending nearly a decade in that location. The healthy-focused spot, known for grain bowls, smoothies, and vegan options, has posted a note thanking local customers and directing fans to its remaining Worcester and Newburyport locations.

The family-owned Nepalese restaurant, moved by heartbreaking news coverage and personal ties, is inviting local diners to help channel aid to affected communities overseas.
   

4. Medford: Man Arrested After Disturbance at Fells Plaza (thesomervillenewsweekly.blog subscription) — A man was arrested after allegedly chasing people and throwing a glass bottle at Fells Plaza in Medford, causing a minor injury to a nearby child, and was arraigned at Somerville District Court. Police say multiple 911 calls initially suggested a possible firearm and shooting, but an investigation with video and witnesses confirmed no gun was involved.
