• Somerville meetings, Aug. 31-Sept. 7 (csindie.com) — Somerville residents have a packed week of civic meetings, from Monday's School Committee session on student restraint policies and Winter Hill school funding to Thursday's debates over 24-hour Dunkin' hours, new apartments on White Street, and a 19-story Assembly Square lab. Other committees will weigh more Bluebikes funding, sewer projects, and tax incentives for Assembly Square and East Somerville, all viewable via Zoom.
   

• HEPA air purifiers may boost brain function after just one month (sciencedaily.com) — Researchers studied 119 Somerville residents living near I-93 and Route 28 and found that using HEPA air purifiers for just one month improved mental flexibility and executive function in adults over 40 by about 12 percent. The study suggests that, in traffic-polluted neighborhoods like much of Somerville, relatively simple in-home filtration could meaningfully support long-term brain health, especially for older adults.
