Assaults With Sticks And Break-ins With Vomit: Somerville Crime Log

Everything residents need to know about recent Somerville police activity.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The following reports were received by Somerville Police between Tuesday, Aug. 18 and Sunday, Aug. 23.

Tuesday, Aug. 18

6:19 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a bike accident on Franklin Street. Officers spoke with a man who said he and his young daughter were crossing the street when she was struck by a moped. They both walked to the sidewalk when a man he knew then punched him in the nose. The assailant was identified by police.

Friday, Aug. 21

7:40 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering at a construction site on Alpine Street. The person who reported the incident told officers that someone trespassed onto the site overnight and stole multiple tools.

9:06 a.m. — Police responded to a report of an assault in Davis Square. Police spoke with a man who said another man began verbally attacking him before throwing a hot coffee at him.

10:21 p.m. — Police responded to a report of an assault on the corner of Elm Street and Chester Street. Officers spoke with a person who said a man hit him in the head with a stick while he was walking down the street. The assailant was identified.

Saturday, Aug. 22

3:42 a.m. — Police received a report of a past assault that took place in Davis Square. The victim said a man grabbed him and pushed him into a pole.

Sunday, Aug. 23

3:42 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a dispute on South Street. A homeless woman told officers that a man punched her in the face while she was moving her belongings. The man was located and arrested.

9:01 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering at a residence on Tufts Street. The resident said a man entered his apartment and vomited on his couch. The man was soon identified.
