2 Firefighters Injured Battling Somerville House Fire

SOMERVILLE, MA — Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a three-alarm fire at a vacant home in Somerville Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the three-alarm fire at approximately 7 a.m. on 10 Park St. Heavy smoke and flames rose from the roof of the two-story home as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

City officials told Patch that the majority of the fire had been knocked down as of Thursday morning, though operations remained ongoing at the vacant, two-story wood-frame residential building. A portion of the roof also collapsed during the fire.

Firefighters remained on scene Thursday morning, and road closures were in place in the surrounding area as firefighters continued their work.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Patch will update this post with more information as it becomes available.
