Drive-by Robberies, Assault, And Chases: Somerville Crime Log

Everything residents need to know about recent Somerville police activity.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The following reports were received by Somerville Police between Tuesday, Sept. 15 and Monday, Sept. 21.

Tuesday, Sept. 15

12:14 p.m. — Police responded to a report of an injured person in Davis Square. Officers found a man suffering from an injury to his head after reportedly getting into an altercation with another man. The man reportedly struck him with a steel broom. The assailant as soon located and placed under arrest.

Wednesday, Sept. 16

3:17 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a fight on Perkins Street. Officers spoke to a man who said two people on a moped approached him and began to chase him. One of the people then punished him.

Monday, Sept. 21

1:55 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a robbery on Franklin Street. Officers spoke with a woman who said a vehicle with a man and two women approached her and then attempted to steal gold chains around her neck while replacing them with different ones. During a subsequent struggle, one of the women punched the victim before the car fled the area.

2:30 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a robbery on Washington Street. A woman said she was walking when another woman in a dark blue sedan stopped and tried to kiss her. Another woman in the car then tried gto remove the necklace from around her neck.

Other crimes reported included five package thefts, two vandalism incidents, three car break-ins, two motor vehicle thefts, 2 motor vehicle vandalism incidents, and one bike theft.
