SOMERVILLE, MA — The city's Winter Farmers Market returns to the Center for Arts at the Armory this weekend for its 17th season.
The weekly market will feature more than 30 weekly and biweekly vendors, along with rotating guest vendors, selling fresh produce, cheese, eggs, meat, fish, bread, pastries, sweets, and other locally grown and regionally produced products. Local musicians will also perform in the Armory's Performance Hall and café.
The market will run Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. beginning Nov. 7 through April 17, 2027. No markets will be held on Nov. 28 or Dec. 26. According to the center, organizers expect more than 1,000 visitors each Saturday.
Returning farm vendors include Red Fire Farm, Heron Pond Farm, Winter Moon Roots, Brookford Farm, Good Food Farm, and Freedom Food Farm. Other participating businesses include Kimball Fruit Farm, Stillman Quality Meats, Lilac Hedge, Boston Smoked Fish Co., Captain Marden's Seafood, Mariposa Bakery, NAVAD, Bread Obsession, and Hi-Rise Bread. Guest vendors will offer additional products ranging from hummus and hot sauces to handcrafted pottery and candles.
The market accepts cash, credit, debit, and SNAP/EBT. Customers who spend at least $15 in SNAP/EBT benefits will receive a $15 match through funds raised by the center. The market also participates in the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP), which helps eligible shoppers purchase fruits and vegetables from participating vendors.
"Creating a sustainable food system is about supporting the producers who bring food to the table and ensuring there is a seat for everyone at that table," Market Manager Elise Molinaro said. "SWFM allows us to do just that by giving us a space to support local businesses and having the opportunity to offer the SNAP Match to all SNAP/EBT customers."
The Center for Arts at the Armory is at 191 Highland Ave.
