Berkeley Street's Chandler Studios Part of New Hotel Flurry in Boston
At least six notable hotel projects—including one in the South End—expect to open their doors in the next two years.

If you think Boston needs more tourists spending money at local businesses, we have good news for you.
The Boston Herald reports that the 12-room Chandler Studios is slated to open in the South End this August. It's one of several projects expected to start booking customers in the next 24 months. The changes to the room-renting scene are coming quickly; Hosteling International Boston will open a 480-bed installation on Stuart Street near the Theatre District later this month.
The burst of activity follows a stagnant period in Boston’s hotel market. Currently, the newest hotels in Boston opened in 2009, but those projects—W Boston and Ames—could get bumped out of the top five by the end of 2014.

Jan Freitag with hotel industry research firm STR told the Herald that financing has been and continues to be a challenge for new hotels in the Hub, but financiers may be interested in investing in existing projects.
