CANTATA SINGER'S presents BACH’S MAGNIFICAT
AND ZELENKA’S TE DEUM
Sun, May 10, 2015 / 3pm
NEC’s Jordan Hall
pre-concert lecture / 2pm
Spend Mother’s Day with Cantata Singers! Hear
music by the composer who inspired Cantata Singers to be founded in the first
place alongside works by our newest musical muse, Czech Baroque composer Jan
Dismas Zelenka. J.S. Bach’s jubilant and beloved Magnificat in D, BWV 243 is paired with the Boston premiere of Zelenka’s profound Te Deum, ZVW 146. According
to music Director David Hoose, “both pieces are brilliant in their color and
energy. It’s hard to find a piece as vital as Bach’s Magnificat, yet Zelenka’s Te
Deum may be right there.”
