Cantata Singers presents Brahms' Requiem

Hear Brahms' emotional German Requiem at NEC's Jordan Hall on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 8pm.

NEC's Jordan Hall

Brahms’ emotional German Requiem is uniquely paired with J.S. Bach’s Cantata BWV 60, “O Ewigkeit, du Donnerwort” and Ricercar, and Anton Webern’s Five Movements for String Orchestra. Webern’s refracted take on Bach, and one of Bach’s most emotionally affecting cantatas beautifully paves the way for Brahms’ radiant music. Soloists include local favorites Majie Zeller, soprano, Lynn Torgove, alto, Eric Christopher Perry, tenor, Mark Andrew Cleveland, bass, and Dana Whiteside, bass.

John Harbison, composer and former Cantata Singers’ Music Director, will give the pre-concert talk, free to all ticketholders, at 7pm in Williams Hall.
Following the performance, all are welcome at a free post-concert reception in Williams Hall.
