Mozart’s iconic Great
Mass in C Minor,
K. 427 contrasts
in beautiful and surprising ways with Beethoven’s Elegiac Song, op. 118 and Haydn’s Symphony No. 86 in D Minor.  The C
Minor Mass
was unique in its time for the work’s magnificent choruses,
sensuous solo movements, and large ensemble. Paired with Mozart’s masterpiece
is Beethoven’s brief and tender Elegiac
Song—
a musical gem often overlooked among Beethoven’s grander works—and
Haydn’s sumptuous Symphony No. 86.

Following the performance, all are welcome at a
free post-concert reception in Williams Hall.
