(August 10, 2015) Boston, MA – Faneuil Hall Marketplace Merchants Association today announced its fourth year as a sponsor of the St. Anthony’s Feast in the North End to be held August 28, 29 and 30, the largest Italian festival in New England. Named the “Feast of Feasts” by National Geographic magazine, the St. Anthony’s Feast will celebrate its 96th anniversary this year which was established in 1919 by Italian immigrants who came to the North End from the region of Montefalcione in Avellino. St. Anthony’s Feast is now world famous for its authentic street festival featuring fabulous Italian street food, live music, parades, games for the kids and religious services.

“Faneuil Hall Marketplace is proud to continue our partnership with St. Anthony’s Feast,” said Carol Troxell, President, Faneuil Hall Marketplace Merchants Association. “As next door neighbors of the North End, we want to do our part to support St. Anthony’s Feast that brings thousands of visitors to our community.”

The Feast is produced by the St. Anthony’s Society which donates proceeds from the event to many nonprofit organizations in the community serving children, the elderly, scholarship funds, health care and other worthy causes.

“The North End and Faneuil Hall Marketplace are two top destinations for visitors to Boston, and the St. Anthony’s Feast gives everyone a good reason to be Italian for the weekend,” said Joe DiGirolamo, chairman of the Feast, native of the North End and longtime member of St. Anthony’s Society. “St. Anthony’s Feast has everything you need to enjoy a fantastic celebration such as music, activities, an historic location and of course, great Italian food.”

Opening ceremonies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night, August 28, start with the blessing of the statue of St. Anthony followed by a short procession and then live musical entertainment. On Saturday and Sunday, St. Anthony’s Feast begins at 12:00 p.m. and goes until 11:00 p.m. One of the highlights of the Feast is on Sunday, August 30 with the ten-hour grand procession of St. Anthony where the statue is paraded through the streets of the North End accompanied by musical bands, marching bands, floats and a color guard. On Monday, August 31, the community will celebrate the annual Santa Lucia Festival from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Both St. Anthony’s Feast and Santa Lucia’s Festival are held on Endicott, Thacher and North Margin Streets.
