Hammond Residential Real Estate to Exhibit the Works of Jean Cain: Boston and Beyond
Opening Reception will take place on Sunday, September 27 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

BOSTON (September 8, 2015) - The Hammond Residential Real Estate office located in the ATELIER 505 building, at 505 Tremont Street in Boston’s South End, is pleased to announce that it will exhibit a collection of works by artist Jean Cain entitled Boston and Beyond, from September 2015 through March 2016. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, September 27 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., at which time the artist will be present to receive questions about her work.
Cain’s paintings focus on the urban landscape and its ever-changing appearance. She predominantly focuses on the Boston area by highlighting the city’s architecture and historical scenery. Often lacking human presence, her work focuses on Boston’s stillness and sense of history, revealing “tension between the old and the new.”
The artist received a BFA from Syracuse University. After living, working and painting in the New York, Cain and her husband moved to Hingham, Massachusetts to raise four children. As one can imagine, she needed a peaceful place to paint, so she converted a rustic barn on her property to a working art studio where her oils and acrylics flourished with scenes from throughout the region. In 1980 with her children grown, she moved to Boston’s Back Bay, relocating her home studio to the city’s finest artist community at Fort Point Channel. Utilizing oils and acrylics Cain focused on Boston’s unique architecture, the old and the new, side-by-side. Corporate commissions for Boston City Hall, The Copley Plaza Hotel, Biogen, and many others soon followed.
