Murphy and King Supports Associate Peter Obersheimer and Best Buddies Ride
Murphy & King is proud to support firm associate Peter Obersheimer in his 100 mile bicycle ride for Best Buddies
Murphy & King is proud to support firm associate Peter Obersheimer in his 100 mile bicycle ride for the Best Buddies Hyannis Port Challenge on May 30, 2015. The Challenge provides 100 mile, 50 mile or 20 mile route options ending at Craigville Beach in Hyannis Port. For Peter, it is a personal endeavor, as he has been a Best Buddy since his freshman year at Boston College in 2003.
As an undergraduate student at Boston College, Peter was matched with his Best Buddy Ian Hobson. Ian has worked for over 25 years as a Utility Worker at Stuart Dining Hall at BC’s Newton Campus, which serves as a satellite campus for part of the freshman class and the law school. Peter and Ian’s bond grew quickly. And upon Peter’s arrival back to Boston College to attend law school from 2007-2010, Peter and Ian would see each other every day. Their connection continued to grow as Peter became friends with Ian’s coworkers and Ian became friends with Peter’s fellow students. To this day, Peter and Ian remain close, getting together to watch sports games, going out to lunch with friends, , or exploring the city, as Ian, being the historical buff he is, is a tour guide of the aquarium and various other sites.
“Being matched with Ian has changed my life,” said Peter. “After spending just a few minutes with Ian, you quickly appreciate his kindness and generosity. He always puts the needs of others first. Ian and I have both become active leaders in our Best Buddies community as a result of our experience.”
