The app allows drivers to quickly and easily pay a meter with their mobile phone from a remote location, avoiding the hassle of finding quarters or running back to the meter to add more time before it expires.

The app is live in Boston’s Back Bay, Fenway/Kenmore, Downtown, Beacon Hill, North End, West End and Charlestown neighborhoods. It will soon be active in South Boston, South End, Mission Hill, Allston and Brighton.

“The ParkBoston app is one of the many ways we’re making city government more efficient and effective for Boston’s residents and visitors,” said Mayor Martin J. Walsh. “More and more of our drivers are taking advantage of ParkBoston and we’re excited to be able to expand into even more neighborhoods by the end of the summer.”

Decals applied to parking meters and on-street signage will let drivers know where the new service is in effect.

A pay-by-voice option is also available for those without web-enabled phones. To learn more, please visit park.boston.gov.
