The Performing Art Series Presents Exhibit, Artist’s Reception Featuring Works by Phillip Spinks

The Performing Art Series is pleased to support the local art community by hosting a special exhibit featuring the artwork of Phillip Spinks, a celebrated painter and printmaker.
An artist’s reception will take place on Sunday, April 9 from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage South End office located at 10 Berkeley St. in Boston. The reception and exhibit, on display at the office through September, are free and open to the public.
Spinks, who was born in Nuremberg, West Germany, came to Boston University nearly 20 years ago to study engineering, creative writing and archaeology and has called Boston’s South End neighborhood his home ever since. After graduation, he followed a path incorporating his education into a life as a painter and printmaker. In addition to private collections, his works are on display in several large Boston corporate offices and he has participated in numerous juried exhibitions here in the U.S. as well as in Germany.

Much of Spinks’ work is based on what remained of his parents’ and grandparents’ homes in New Orleans which gutted by the storm surge caused by Hurricane Katrina - fragments of memories and times gone by. He saw the austere beauty in the imagery that remained, and instead of allowing the loss of the images to create a void in his mind, he chose to reclaim these memories and create a new vehicle to contain them.
The Performing Arts Series was established by the former Hammond Residential Real Estate, which was acquired in 2016 by NRT LLC. NRT is the nation’s largest residential real estate brokerage company and locally operates Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in New England. In 1996, the Performing Arts Series was created to enrich the cultural communities that the company services, as well as to provide talented artists and up-and-coming musicians with performance opportunities. The South End and Hull offices regularly display exhibits by talented artists and admission-free concerts are presented in Boston, Chestnut Hill, Concord, Sharon, Lexington, and Weston.
