Smokng Cables Cause Severe Delay at South Station

Passengers are asked to avoid the area, and take the commuter rail to JFK/UMass instead.

Trains are badly delayed along Boston’s red line after smoldering cables sent firefighters scrambling, boston.com reports.

Firefighters cleared the scene at South Station around 6:20 p.m., but delays remain. Passengers headed south from the station are asked the use the commuter rail to the JFK/UMass station, and shuttle buses are being used between Park Street and JFK/UMass, the site reports.

No injuries were reported.
