South End Deals for the Last-Minute Valentine

Just off of Washington Street, the shops on Union Park Street are offering a number of great gifts for your Valentine, or yourself.

• is kicking off a semi-annual sale, with 10-50% off home furnishings, winter clothing and accessories.
• is wrapping up its winter sale with up to 75% off fall and holiday 2010 pieces.
• is offering 20% off Aunt Sadie's chocolate scented candles as well as discounts on select winter merchandise.
• is offering 10-20% off wood block prints for the month of February.

Romantic table for two

• If you’re feeling romantic but frugal, head over to to take advantage of their Cheap Date Night menu. They offer a range of different menus all for $40 per couple - that's right, that's $20 per person - with all of the M+C favorites.
• Didn't make a reservation? The Gallows is leaving a few tables open for walk-ins. Their advice? "Walk straight up to the host stand, act like you've got a reservation, and we'll play along and make you look like a big time baller/plan aheader."
• is taking a playful spin on the most romantic holiday with $6 cocktails (The Old Ball & Chain and Table for 1 are our favorites), $4 "Dear John" punch, bar snacks and a chocolate fountain. Need we say more?
