South End designers set to debut their latest exhibition at Tower Hill
The renowned creators of the fine art, fashion and home décor line Patch NYC are debuting their latest collection at Tower Hill in Boylston.

The internationally-renowned creators of the fine art, fashion and home décor line Patch NYC are debuting their latest collection, An Autumn Fable, among the indoor conservatories at Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston in October.
Designers Don Carney and John Ross established Patch NYC in 1997, combining their backgrounds in fine art and interest in unique finds at area flea markets. They were soon running a popular boutique in New York City before moving their lifestyle studio to the South End in Boston in 2010 and collaborating with Barnes & Noble, West Elm and Target.
“We like to work in a range of media from India ink and gouache to cut paper collages and glitter so the Tower Hill show will incorporate a mix of styles and techniques,” said Ross. “We named our company Patch NYC because like a patchwork quilt we love to combine unexpected materials and motifs to create something new so it is fitting that this show will include a range of works cohesive in theme.”

Tower Hill visitors will have the opportunity to see Patch NYC’s latest collection before the rest of the world. Carney and Ross have a nostalgic and organic sensibility that pairs with Tower Hill’s extensive gardens, indoor conservatories, heirloom apple orchard and woodland trails.
“Autumn is a favorite time of year for us, so our PATCH NYC designs and art work are strongly influenced by the change in seasons,” said Ross. “Nature motifs from leaves and flowers to owls and squirrels play a large role in our imagery. We like to think that someone looking at a show of our work might imagine a narrative connecting the images, a season-inspired story to go along with the art so that’s why we are calling this An Autumn Fable.”

Martha Stewart Living described Patch NYC as “equal parts irresistible home goods and artistic inspiration,” while the New York Times praised the “modern twist on a vintage look” of the Patch NYC line of creations.
“We’re honored to display future treasures designed by the creative minds behind Patch NYC,” said Tower Hill CEO Kathy Abbott. “Our guests have come to expect fine art, gardening, and design coming together for an inspirational and educational experience. An Autumn Fable arrives just in time to coincide with our harvest season celebration to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our members and visitors.”
The opening reception for the show is from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, at Tower Hill. Thereafter, members and visitors can see the exhibition during regular Tower Hill hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as well as 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays through Oct. 26.
