Yao Han: The New Fondue?
The Elephant Walk in Boston's South End Introduces Cambodian-Style Fondue Demonstration; Dinner Event February 9th Hosted by Executive

WHAT: The Elephant Walk in Boston’s South End is known for exotic and at times unfamiliar dishes and flavors, and what better way to introduce Bostonians to a fun, communal Cambodian dish than at a hands on dinner? On Tuesday, February 9th, 2016, Executive Chef Nadsa de Monteiro will lead a group of eager diners through a three course demonstration dinner, highlighting the signature dish, Yao Han, a festive and fun Cambodian-style fondue. The group will learn how to successfully prepare the dish from its conception to the finished product while enjoying a multi course dinner paired with wine from the Elephant Walk’s carefully curated wine list.
Guests will begin the evening with Amuse Bouches which will include Meang Lao, peanut pork with tamarind over crispy rice, and Shrimp Toasts, scallion minced shrimp on toast fried golden, served with spicy lime hoisin sauce. For the demonstration and main course, guests will join Chef Nadsa at the table to help create the signature dish, Yao Han, from start to finish. Yao Han is a Cambodian-style Fondue, consisting of a rich chicken broth infused with the fragrance of lemongrass, galangal, shallot, garlic and peanut. During the process, delicately sliced chicken, beef and shrimp are simmered in the broth and served over scallion rice noodles, fresh greens and herbs. Guests brave enough to play chef are encouraged to join Chef Nadsa at the head of the table to help create this flavorful and exotic dish. To cap the evening’s festivities, attendees will enjoy a traditional Cambodian dessert of Sangkhia l’pao. Each course will be paired with a selection of wine from The Elephant Walk’s impressive wine list, and to continue the educational component, Steven Chevalier of Ideal Wine and Spirits (also Chef Nadsa’s husband) will be on hand to share his extensive knowledge and expertise on each wine and answer any additional questions guests might have.
For all those in attendance, the entertainment factor in itself will be sure to impress guests at future dinner parties, and any true foodie will appreciate the diversity and intricacy that The Elephant Walk has to offer in preparing each dish.
