WHY

Charles River Laboratories has been operating a large scale toxicity testing operation at this location since 2016, and has been experimenting on beagles and other animals in Worcester and Massachusetts for decades in multiple locations.

A February 2026 USDA inspection report listed 151 dogs at their 55 Union Street facility alone, down from 179 dogs on 2025 report and 247 dogs on the 2024 report.

Company-wide, their USDA APHIS Annual Report Summary listed 7,385 dogs for 2025 — down from 9,216 dogs listed on their 2024 report.

CRL is also one of the largest ongoing buyers of beagles bred specifically for research from Marshall Farms in North Rose, NY, the largest breeder of beagles in the country.

There are somewhere between 16,000 and 23,000+ beagles currently in cages in factory farm like conditions at Marshall.

The beagles from Marshall are sold to laboratories & 'research' facilities like the one operated by Charles River on Union Street in Worcester, where they are poisoned over and over before being killed.

All for money.

What can you do?

If you live in Massachusetts or in nearby states, please join us as we bear peaceful witness and ask CRL to do the right thing and end canine testing company wide, and free these dogs from their suffering.
