Pig Time at the Book Oasis

Looking for fun things to do during April vacation?  Pig tales, crafts, and snacks are coming to the Book Oasis on 21 April.  Local children’s author P.V. Lundqvist will present his book Not Just for Breakfast Anymore – the story of a boy who learns to stand up to the local bullies after he gets a pig for a pet.  The author will read from the book and sign copies.  There will also be a pig-themed coloring contest (with winner ribbons for each age group) and pig cookies to take home.

Geared toward readers aged 12 and under, Not Just for Breakfast Anymore tells the story of Benny, the new kid in a small town.  He has always wanted a pet – a dog or a cat – the kind of pet everyone else has.  But Benny’s mom likes to do things differently, even if that means that the neighbors will try to kick the family out of town – right as Benny is about to make the baseball team.  Will he fight for his “different” pet, or back down?  The story is based on the author’s own experience as the owner of the first “official” potbellied pig in Wakefield.
