STOUGHTON, MA — A Mattapan man was arrested in connection to an attempted carjacking last week on Sumner St. in Stoughton, according to police. Just before 7:30 a.m. Feb. 26, a 64-year-old woman was leaving work from the Copley nursing home when she got into her car and was attacked by Kristopher Depina, 25, police said.

Police said Depina was waiting in the back seat and struck the woman in the face with a gun. Depina ordered her to go into the passenger seat, but the woman refused, police said. Instead she continued driving down Sumner Street until she could get the attention of a passing driver.

Police said Depina then ditched the woman's car on Bancroft Street and ran away before being picked up by someone driving a Hyundai Elantra. The good Samiritan that stopped to help chased after Depina until he accelerated toward Brockton on Park Street, police said.
