2 RI Men Face Gun Charges In Stoughton

Two men from North Providence were arrested after they were seen holding a loaded gun in the area of Ikea Way in Stoughton, police said.

Cullen Ward, 28, and Nathaniel Beaumier, 27, were charged with carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and shoplifting. Ward was also charged with possession of cocaine.

STOUGHTON, MA — Two men from North Providence, Rhode Island were arrested after they were found with a loaded gun in the area of Central Street, according to police. Cullen Ward, 28, and Nathaniel Beaumier, 27, were charged with carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and shoplifting. Ward was also charged with possession of cocaine.

Around 6 p.m., Saturday, police were called to the area of Ikea Way. The witness told police a man wearing camouflage shorts and a white shirt was walking around holding a gun. Stoughton, Avon, and State Police flooded the area to search for the man, who police later identified as Ward, who police said had an active warrant out of Taunton. A witness told police another man, later identified as Beaumier, was with Ward.

About 40 minutes into the search police said they found Ward and Beaumier walking on Central Street. Both men were ordered to the ground and detained. After a brief search, police said they seized a loaded gun feet from where the men were found.

Police searched the men and said they found four bags of cocaine inside Ward's sock. The men also shoplifted at the Express Gas station on Central Street, according to police.

Both men were arraigned in Stoughton District Court Monday and will be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Aug. 15.
