52 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized In Unexpected Stoughton Raid

Police were looking for two armed robbery suspects, but after not finding them, police ended up conducting an unexpected drug raid instead.

STOUGHTON, MA — Local police on Thursday morning went to a house to try to find two men accused of armed robbery. Those men weren't there, but Stoughton police unexpectedly arrested another man at the house, seizing over 50 pounds of marijuana and $32,000 in cash.

Around 6 a.m., Stoughton police were asked to help Rhode Island and Massachusetts state troopers, as well as Quincy Police, execute arrest warrants at 318 Erin Road for two men charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and other charges.

Police knocked on the door. A man inside opened the door, but police said he ran back in the house as soon as he realized it was law enforcement. The officers went inside and found Joseph Fabiano, 26, of Stoughton. He wasn't one of the people police were looking for, so officers searched every room of the house. Officers didn't find the suspects, but while searching for them, polcie said they saw large amounts of marijuana and cash in plain sight. A search warrant was secured, and 52 pounds of marijuana, $32,000 in cash, drug packaging materials, scales, a money counter, and a small amount of cocaine were seized, according to police.
