ABOUT TOWN: FBI Honors Stoughton Police

FBI LOOKING AT STOUGHTON: Now, that I have your attention, the FBI Director Robert S. Mueller is scheduled to present "Trilogy Awards" to Stoughton Police Executive Officer Robert Devine and Sgt. Dan McGowan in Nashville today (Monday).
The prestigious awards would be a first for the . Stoughton Police Chief Paul Shastany, who flew out yesterday from Logan to join them for the presentation, was beaming with pride.
"This kind of comprehensive training hasn't ever been done in this department. The return on investment is enormous. I feel like a proud father. This is a wonderful accomplishment for both of them, and the Stoughton Police Department."

This is all part of the FBI's Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA) program. The trilogy is comprised of three different elements--Command Institute, Supervisor Leadership Institute, and Executive Survival--Policing in the 21st Century. Congratulations to the two officers on the fruits of their hard work!
A LATE CONGRATULATIONS: In the better late than never department, About Town sends congratulations to Stoughton Firefighter Tim Carroll and his wife Meghan, on the April 5th birth of their son, Aidan Michael Carroll. Aidan is the nephew of Lt. Michael Carroll and the grandson of retired Stoughton Fire Chief Ed Carroll. Mazel Tov!

BACK INTO THE CLASSROOM: It will seem like old times for Selectman Cynthia Walsh Tuesday afternoon. The retired teacher will be leading a book discussion group at the Stoughton Public Library at 1 p.m as part of the program. The discussion will center on "The Gardner Heist, The True Story of the World’s Largest Unsolved Art Heist" by Ulrich Boser. It's a free discussion event in the Wales French Room upstairs off the rear parking lot.
SPEAKING OF THE LIBRARY: Don't forget the bus trip coming up on Thursday. It promises to be a large amount of fun, for a small price! The bus trip will head first to Boston for dinner at Bull & Finch (a/k/a "Cheers"), and will be followed by a guided tour of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. $30 includes bus, dinner, and the guided tour! Pick up is at X&O Restaurant (Albert’s Plaza), 217 Washington St. at 3:00 p.m, with an expected return at 8:00 p.m. Check and see if they still have room. Call 781-344-2711. Like the discussion above, it is the last part of this year's "Stoughton Reads Together" program.
