• Stoughton Police Launch School Bus Safety Initiative (patch.com) — Stoughton drivers are being warned that police will step up enforcement around school buses as part of Operation Blue Bird, running throughout the school year. Officers will watch local pickup and drop-off routes for motorists who illegally pass buses with flashing red lights, with fines and license suspensions possible for repeat offenses. Residents are urged to slow down, stay alert, and always stop when bus lights are flashing.
   

• Matthew Farwell's twin brother listed as potential witness in upcoming trial (bostonglobe.com) — A former Stoughton police officer is set to stand trial next month on federal charges that he killed 23-year-old Sandra Birchmore and defrauded the town while allegedly abusing his position. Prosecutors say he groomed her through a Stoughton police youth program, sexually exploited her as a minor, and later met her for sex while on duty, with multiple Stoughton officers and experts expected to testify.
   

• Massachusetts memorial honors firefighters lost on 9/11 and in the line of duty (wcvb.com) — Stoughton is among the Massachusetts communities whose fallen firefighters are being added to the Massachusetts Fallen Firefighters Memorial's Ring of Honor, in a ceremony marking 25 years since 9/11. State and local leaders joined families and firefighters in Boston to honor 27 deceased firefighters, including those from Stoughton, with a procession from Boston Common to the memorial site.
