Today's riddle: What day of the year is trucker's day? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Stoughton Teen Missing Since August, Police Say (patch.com) — Stoughton residents are being asked to help locate 15-year-old Renato Arthur Neri Mendes de Araujo, last seen in town on August 4 and later traced to Columbia Road in Boston. Stoughton police describe him as 6 feet tall, about 160 pounds, with long curly black hair usually under a black head wrap, and urge anyone with information to call their department.
2. 10 Massachusetts Towns Where Black Bears Have Been Spotted In 2026 (takingthekids.com) — Stoughton residents joined the statewide buzz over black bears this summer after a bear was reported moving through town just before July 7, likely the same young animal seen in nearby communities. Officials urged neighbors to secure trash, remove bird feeders, and keep grills clean so the bear would simply pass through, turning a brief scare into a low‑drama reminder about living with wildlife.
3. Sandra Birchmore's Journals Allowed in Matthew Farwell Trial (lamag.com) — A former Stoughton police detective is heading to trial in October, with a federal judge ruling that journals kept by victim Sandra Birchmore can be used as evidence. Prosecutors say Matthew Farwell, once part of the Stoughton Police Explorer program leadership, groomed Birchmore and later killed her and her unborn child, while an internal affairs probe forced several Stoughton officers from the department.
4. Tax Fraud Blotter: Making waves in Hawaii (accountingtoday.com) — A part‑owner of Amelia's in Stoughton has admitted to a seven‑year tax‑evasion scheme, pleading guilty to failing to collect and pay more than $515,000 in employment taxes while paying staff partly in cash. Marios Michalakis faces up to five years on each of six counts and has agreed to pay at least $2.5 million in restitution, with sentencing set for December 8.
