• Farwell argues for trial move in Birchmore killing case, citing media coverage (wcvb.com) — A former Stoughton police officer, Matthew Farwell, is asking a federal judge to move his upcoming trial out of Massachusetts, arguing local media coverage makes a fair jury impossible. The case centers on the 2021 death of Sandra Birchmore, whose relationship with Farwell began through the Stoughton Police Explorers program and later led to federal homicide charges and intense scrutiny of the town's police department.
   

• Restaurant News for the Week Ending September 27, 2026 (blogspot.com) — Stoughton residents just lost their local Sonic Drive-In, as the chain has closed that location, leaving only one remaining in Eastern Massachusetts. The weekly restaurant roundup also notes several other Boston-area closures and a new suburban BBQ-focused spot, but the Stoughton shutdown is the biggest change for local fast-food fans.
