Average Stoughton Teacher Salary Among Highest In State

Data from the state says educators in Stoughton are making more than the average Massachusetts teacher.

STOUGHTON, MA - The average salary of a school teacher in Stoughton during the 2015-16 school year is among the 55 highest in the state, according to data from the state.

Earlier this year, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released a full list of average annual salaries of public educators in each community. According to the study, the 300 public school teachers in Stoughton on average made $81,832 during the last school year, the 53th highest average in the state and about $5,400 more than the statewide average of $76,442.

The Carlisle School District has the highest average wage at $100,803.

323 school districts reported data to the state. Benefits such as summers off and pensions, negotiated between individual school districts and unions, were not included in the data.

Average wages were determined by dividing each district's total salaries and stipends by the number of full-time teachers employed during the school year.
