To join the program, children should be in sixth grade or below and must be Stoughton residents. Pre-schoolers may have books read to them. If older siblings read to younger family members, the books read may be counted by both of them.
If children read books which are at least 100 pages long, every 50 pages will count as one book once the entire book is read.
See live entertainment at "Arts in the Park" at the South School on Monday mornings. Sign-up once for all Hip-Hop Dance Lessons taught by the Dance Force on Monday afternoons. Sign-up for each Tuesday Preschool Craft Program and once for all Wednesday evening Teddybear Story times. Attend "One World, Many Stories Crafts" on Thursdays (no sign-up required). Sign up once for four sessions of Zumba Dance Workshops for 4-6 year olds, also on Thursdays. Children must be participants in the Summer Reading Program to attend in-library activities.
This is a progressive reading program with reading incentives. When children read 3 books and enter the titles of the books they have read onto their reading logs, they are given a "Balloon" to place on the first section of the bulletin board (Europe & Asia) and they receive a "One World, Many Stories" book bag and pencil.
When they have read 8 books, they move to the next section of the bulletin board (Africa) and receive a "One World, Many Stories" holographic ruler.
At the 15 book level, children move to the third section of the bulletin board (Australia) and receive a "One World, Many Stories" button. Those who read 25 books or more will reach the fourth section (Antarctica) and receive a "One World, Many Stories" water bottle.
For each book read, the child will put his/her name and phone number into a drawing for one of our raffle prizes. Raffle prize winners will be pulled immediately after the Final Peter and Ellen Allard performance on Friday, August 12. The child does not have to be present to win. If a child wins a raffle prize we will contact him/her at home, if necessary.
