Cheng-Du Restaurant in Unique Partnership with Stoughton YMCA
Y Members to Receive Discounts, Restaurant Raising Funds for Y Camp
To mark the start of the Chinese New Year, Tina Tang, owner of Stoughton’s landmark Cheng-Du Restaurant, announces a unique partnership with the YMCA’s Old Colony Branch in Stoughton.
Any customer who shows their YMCA membership card will receive 10% off their dinner meal price (not valid for lunch or lunch buffet or other specials). Also, patrons will be able to show their support of the Y’s Camp Stoughton in two other ways:
- Customers can add $1 (or more) to their meal check as a donation to the Y’s Camp Stoughton summer camp, and their names are posted;
- Anyone can donate any amount to sponsor bikers in the YMCA Spinathon 2017 set for March 11. Donor names will be prominently displayed at Cheng-Du.
Ellen Greene, Executive Director of the Stoughton Y, said, “We are excited that Tina and Cheng-Du are helping us to raise awareness and funds for our fabulous Camp Stoughton.” Last summer 1,700 youngsters from 4 to15 developed new skills and built new friendships at the camp on a rustic 30-acre site adjacent to the Stoughton Y.

Greene added, “At camp kids enjoy archery, swimming, and a ropes courses, but even more important, they learn self-reliance, foster a love for nature and the outdoors, and are encouraged to develop attitudes and practices that build character and leadership…all in a fun and creative learning environment!” She said that last year 59% of campers received financial assistance.
2017 is the Year of the Rooster, the 10th in the Chinese zodiac. According to tradition, those born in ‘Rooster’ years (1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005) are hardworking, confident, courageous, talented and honest. ‘Roosters’ like to be the center of attention and dress up. “Many Y members have those characteristics,” Ellen Greene smiled.
