Four Options Remain for Stoughton High School's Future
Thursday night, the high school building committee narrowed down their options for the future of Stoughton High School from eight to four.

Call it the final four of Stoughton High School designs.
Thursday night, the high school building committee narrowed down their options for the future of Stoughton High School from eight to four, choosing two new options and two renovation proposals.
A large portion of the 2 1/2 hour discussion was focused on the inclusion of option B2, which includes the most renovation of all the proposal. If the town were to move forward with the plan, most of the school would be renovated with students and teachers using modular classrooms while the renovation is done in sections. A new gymnasium and library would be constructed.

Committee member Roberta Harback was one of the louder supporters for including the option to show how it would compare to a new building.
Stoughton High School Principal and committee member Juliette Miller said the renovation options does not meet the town’s educational plan, questing why it would even be considered.

“Many committee members said they would never vote for this. It feels like a waste of resources and time,” she said.
In addition to B2, B3 was also chosen. Also calling for a renovation, the “A” and “B” buildings, library, and gym would be demolished. The cafeteria and library would be renovated.
For new options, C1A and C2A were chosen. C1A would be an L-shaped building while C2A calls for a courtyard in the center of a rectangular building. Both would be built on the current athletics fields and would require the construction of a new track and football field.
Proces for the proposals are expected to come in early November with a selection for a preferred design to be made shortly after.
