More Time Needed for Stoughton Police Chief Search
The board will revisit the search on Nov. 1.

STOUGHTON, MA — The posting for the Stoughton police chief opening is going to take a little longer than expected.
Tuesday, Selectman Robert O’Regan said more time is needed for the process. He and Selectman Peter Brown were tasked with crafting the job description.
“What we came to realize, looking at the whole context of the position, we’re not really ready to post something because we need the infrastructure in place for what we do once the applications come in,” O’Regan said.

O’Regan said he would like to present a timeline with steps at a future meeting, with Chairman David Sousa scheduled the item for the Nov. 1 meeting.
Under the original schedule, the board was expected to vote on the job description Oct. 18, post by Oct. 19, close the posting on Oct. 28, and aim to have a new police chief by the end of November.
