MSBA Approves New Stoughton High for Schematic Phase
The town can now create a detailed design of the new Stoughton High School

The new Stoughton High School project is on to the next stage with the approval of the Mass. School Building Association.
Wednesday, Stoughton received approval from the MSBA to move to the schematic design phase, allowing the town to create a detailed design for the proposed school.
In a letter to the town, the MSBA said the town should submit a schedule as soon as possible. The schedule should include the work plan to complete all of the required documentation for a presentation to the MSBA’s Board of Directors at a future meeting, the date town meeting will vote on the project, and the anticipated design and construction schedule.

In November, the School Committee, Board of Selectmen, and the Stoughton High School Building Committee voted to endorse the construction of a new school. Several committee members cited the small difference in cost between the four projects and how the proposal fits into the town’s educational plan as part of their reasons to support a new building.
According to a preliminary cost analysis, the new school is projected to cost the town about $71.5 million, with a state reimbursement of about $55 million.
