MSBA Votes to Help Fund New Stoughton High School

The state agency will provide the town with $52.2 million for a new high school.

STOUGHTON, MA - All that remains is a public vote.

Thursday, the Massachusetts School Building Authority voted to assist with the funding of the new Stoughton High School project. The town will receive a $52.2 million reimbursement, according to the school district. The project will cost $123.5 million.

Next up is a trip to the voting booth for Stoughton residents. On June 7, voters will have their say on the project. If voters choose to fund the construction of a new high school, construction will begin in 2017 with an opening scheduled for 2019.

The town's portion of the funding will come from a debt exclusion, a temporary tax increase that will be removed once the project is paid off.
