The study from the state's Executive Office of Public Safety and Security shows that the number is up.

STOUGHTON, MA — Stoughton police officers either used or threatened to use a Taser or stun-gun 20 times in 2015, the second most since the department started using the weapon.

According to a new report from the state’s Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, that figure is up from 13 in 2014, 24 in 2013, and six in 2012.

Overall, Tasers or stun-guns were used a record high 619 times by police officers in Massachusetts. The increase is being attributed to more officers having access to the devices, according to the Boston Globe.
