October is National Orthodontic Health Month
Surveys show a great smile helps professional advancement, romance.

October is National Orthodontic Health Month, a good time for adults to consider how an improved smile can give the confidence to push boundaries in order to build self-confidence and self-esteem, socially and professionally.
Since joining the practice that his father, Dr. Robert Chavez, launched 43 years ago, Dr. Andrew Chase of ARCH Orthodontics has helped thousands of patients of all ages on the road to self-improvement through straighter, healthier teeth -- and a fresh new smile.
“Studies show that high self-esteem is the single most important predictor of a long and independent life,” says Dr. Chase, “and poor self-esteem increases threefold the occurrence of illness and the risk of death. A healthy mouth makes you feel and look better. It changes your look and your outlook.” Nearly one-quarter of braces patients – over 1.5 million people -- are adults.

During National Orthodontic Health Month, Dr. Chase encourages people to “talk to an Orthodontist for proper diagnosis, prevention, intervention, guidance and correction of bad bites.” A healthy bite — straight teeth that properly meet opposing teeth in the opposite jaw -- makes it easier to bite, chew and speak. Proper spacing allows better cleaning to avoid gum issues that can lead to serious health problems.
As teens, some didn’t have the opportunity to get braces. Often as we get older, an improved smile becomes a higher priority for social and/or professional reasons. Thanks to 21st century techniques, technologies and therapies, braces can make desired changes in up to 50% less time than traditional methods. Invisible braces eliminate self-consciousness.

An article on the empowHER website sums it up: “You may think that straightening and whitening your smile belongs in the ’extra’ category. . . But few things can boost your mood as effectively and quickly as the smile you’re proud of showcasing…. Smiling releases endorphins that make you feel more self-confident. When you feel that way, you’re more likely to make other people feel better about themselves. This may lead others to treat you differently. And when you act confident, you will be -- and you may start to see new opportunities. It’s great when the world is reflecting joy back at you,”
One adult Orthodontic patient told Dr. Chase, “I learned that having a great smile not only makes you feel better about yourself, but it changes the way people look at you and how they listen to what you say. Orthodontics changed my life.” Dr. Chase says, “Confidence may just be a smile away. Don’t delay your dramatically new smile.” To make an appointment at one of ARCH’s 9 offices, call (781) 209-6776.” ARCH, the Official Orthodontist of Miss Massachusetts, offers free initial consultation (a $500 value), and interest-free financing.
